After inviting 88 people, transgender Grey Narvaez-Dragian and their girlfriend Nix were left devastated with almost empty chairs, which caused them to grieve for hours.

After careful planning, a bride voiced her regret that fewer than half of the guests who were expected showed up. As a result, the newlyweds suffered a financial loss of more than $27,000 (£22,000). Earlier this year, Grey Narvaez-Dragian, a 19-year-old transgender person who goes by they/them pronouns, expressed her frustration on TikTok

The couple posted a video to social media showing a largely deserted reception hall, indicating that the guests they had planned were not present.

Iowan Grey posted videos under the handle @grayanxiety, and after Nix revealed the circumstances, they got encouraging remarks from irate viewers. Grey sobbed for hours as the couple had to make last-minute changes, such as calling off the evening banquet, intimate dance, and sparkler exit.

They released a number of follow-up videos in response to both good and bad news and RSVPs. The caption for one video, which included Grey with makeup smeared with tears, read, "We genuinely sat together and cried in an empty reception hall."

Grey said in a different reply that they spent the majority of their money on gifts for the visitors, which included poorly received samples of specially manufactured soap. They asked why they didn't get the same attention and vented their fury. The couple's financial burden following their lavish wedding on February 27 caused them to face more difficulties.

"I can't afford my meals since I lost my job and didn't get half the attendance," Grey wrote. I'm messed up." A few thoughtful viewers proposed replacing the absent gifts with wedding favours.

Other TikTokers sympathised with Grey and Nix's predicament and sent encouraging and supportive words.

"I hope you remove those people from your life," a user said. Never accept an explanation. They won't show up on your worst day either if they didn't show up on your finest one."

Another, who appeared to be at the wedding, complimented the strength of the pair and said, "If this day's differences are a blessing for you, then you two are so strong that you'll endure forever." I cherish you. It was an honour to stand by you."
