Woman exits the store after being asked to leave a 25% tip

If you’ve ever worked in a restaurant, bar or cafe, you’ve probably experienced that “ahhh” moment when someone leaves you a small tip.
But if you’ve never worked in one, don’t worry, tipping culture is slowly but surely taking over.
For example, one woman described a time when she was at a grocery store in Austin and a cashier pulled out a tablet and asked her for a tip.
With my companion, I visited this upscale grocery store called Tiny Grocer," she remarked. We treated ourselves to some cheese, cured meat, and wine even though it wasn't one of our typical hangouts.
We were having a little date night, and I was expecting it to be a bit more expensive than usual.”
I think it was about 40 bucks, and the cashier rang me up and flipped the tablet and asked for 25% of the tip on my grocery bill, and I looked at her with my jaw on the floor.
We grabbed our stuff and started walking to my car, and I said to him, “They just asked me to tip, and they asked me to tip on a bill.” I was fuming about it for days, and I think I’m still fuming about it now.

For many people, the tablet is just a phone or a laptop, and now it’s a screen telling them how much to tip.
We tend to focus on two aspects of this topic: first, the increasing amount of money people are asked to pay for service, and second, the increasing number of places where people can be asked to tip, such as restaurants, barber shops, delivery drivers, etc.
