Dogs have long been known for their cleverness, but a chihuahua has apparently reached a new level of intelligence, as it can speak' with a British accent.

Of course, most dogs are trained to bark when their owners tell them to ‘speak’, but this isn’t your typical woof.

It’s a sophisticated, well-chosen delivery of the word ‘hello’, as if it’s coming out of the mouth of a well-dressed university professor.

But the amazing thing is that the word doesn’t come from a professor, but rather from a dog named ‘Fuggers’.

You heard me, didn’t you?

In the video below, Fuggers shares her greeting with her owner, Shana Gilbert, who lives in Bedford, UK.

The video begins with Fuggers fidgeting, as if she’s trying to get Shana’s attention. She wags her tail and shuffles along the floor, but then stops dead in her tracks as she decides that words will have more impact.

On a rare day out, Shana was watching a movie with her dog, Fuggers, when she suddenly made a noise that sounded like the word 'ello'. She filmed it and posted it to TikTok, where it quickly gained millions of views.

"I was sitting on the sofa watching a movie with my dog, Fuggers," Shana recalled, "and she suddenly said 'hello'. I laughed at the noise, so I asked her to say it back.

She did, and I rewarded her by putting her on the sofa and giving her a Dorito. I didn't think much of it until I posted the video, went to bed, and woke up with 30,000 notifications."

People are still talking about Fuggers’ British accent, and one person wrote, “Well Tally Hoo my dear chum, a brusque morning aIN’T IT!”

“I wasn’t prepared for that,” said another viewer, while a third said, “Someone get this dog a cup of tea and some crumpets.”

Fuggers was adopted by Shana when she was just 15 months old. It took her a few months to get the pup to socialise and get used to everything.

But the video shows that Fuggers grew up to be a confident dog, and Shana says the thing that amuses her the most is that she doesn’t even know she’s an internet sensation.
