When Rockstar Games released their GTA VI trailer earlier this week, it sent shock waves through the gaming world. Although the game's world building, realism, and graphical enhancements won praise from players worldwide, not everyone was pleased.
One of those shockwaves was Lawrence Sullivan, also known as the ‘Florida Joker’, who went viral in 2017 for his mugshot. With his colorful hair and facial tattoos, many thought he looked a lot like the Batman villain Joker from Suicide Squad, played by Jared Leto.
On December 5th, Sullivan took to TikTok to point out a striking similarity between himself and the character in the trailer. He shared a video where he showed off his distinct appearance, wearing a vibrant orange jumpsuit and sporting a purple hair and facial tattoo. He mentioned that his one-of-a-kind look served as inspiration for the character.

In a follow-up video shared on social media on December 8, Sullivan said, “Just find me, Florida Joker, Miami Joker, you know who I am talking about, GTA, we need to talk.”
In response to online discussions about his claims, Sullivan went further and said, “For all those people who think I’m hallucinating and that I’m not the Joker in GTA VI... that’s me, that’s the person they’re inspired by, you see? That’s me!”
He also said he wants to talk to GTA and if there’s no dialogue, he’d like to be compensated with “a million or two”.
He added, “So what’s up? Hey me, Rockstar, rockstar entertainment, rockstar games, rockstar enterprise, you took my likeness, you took my life!”
Some TikTok users supported Sullivan’s claim and argued that he should be compensated. One user wrote, “That’s right, they took the Miami Joker’s design and just changed it.
A second individual expressed, "I comprehend, however, are you aware that you are participating in the most exceptional game ever, and you should feel content.
" Although they seem happy, I do think they ought to give you some money." Another person advised Sullivan to speak with the business and ask for his picture to be taken down.
Some questioned his discontent, with one person posing the question "How u not happy?""Sullivan responded with a resounding "Want the bag."
Some users, though, consider it an honor to be included in the game. A comment was made that said, "It's an honor to be in the game."
However, some TikTok users subsequently made the observation that DC might want to speak with Sullivan if he is pursuing GTA.
"One individual suggested that any individual who uses a character name from DC Comics or gets tattoos inspired by DC characters should provide compensation to DC for utilizing their intellectual property in that way," said the individual.
A large number of people are asking that the game be removed from retail shelves before its official release.
