A South Carolina man raised over $50,000 by posting his weight loss journey on Instagram. Cole Prochaska, 39, believes that telling his story has made him mentally and physically stronger.

"It's really helped me because it's been seen by everyone in the world, so what's the big deal?" he said in a statement to TODAY. "It's made me feel like I'm not 'trapped' by all the loose skin anymore."

In June, Prochaska posted before and after pictures, workout routines, and motivational talks on Instagram, hoping that his journey would inspire others and motivate him to keep going.

He had lost 360 pounds after taking better care of himself, but was left with extremely loose skin that made him self-conscious.

By 2021, Prochaska was at the top of his weight range after years of overindulgence. He decided to take charge of his own life and shed the extra pounds without surgery or weight-loss medication.

"I was really down," said Prochaska. "I put on a good face because that's what most big people do, but I was really sad. You're not interested in going anywhere because you don't want to feel uncomfortable in the chairs or have to constantly think about what to wear while walking long distances.I was really down."

Prochaska's weight had a negative impact on his relationship with his mother.

The store manager expressed, "I could tell that she had lost respect for me because of my size, lack of ambition, and lack of progress in my desired direction in life."

"I tried to save her, but I didn't save myself."

Prochaska worked hard to lose weight, walking at least 10,000 steps daily, eating a high-protein diet and abstaining from sugary and sugary drinks. He also attended the gym for 20 to 30 minutes of cardio and lifted heavy weights three times per week.

He now weighs about 226 pounds and is maintaining that weight.

What Prochaska wasn’t prepared for was the extra skin he would develop after the weight loss.

"I feel trapped,” he said. “I have lost a lot of weight and now I have muscle, but every time I take off my shirt, I feel self-conscious. I have loose skin all over my legs, and when I try to run, I can barely move.

I have to wear pants that are a size bigger than they should be because I have skin tucked into them from my stomach.”

That’s why he started this GoFundMe page to help pay for the surgery, and has raised more than 50,000 dollars so far.

"My weight goal has been met, but my life is not complete, and it will not be complete until I can get rid of this excess skin," he writes on the page. To hide the flab, I had to tuck additional flesh into my jeans while still wearing loose attire.

I've been overweight since I was six years old, and even now, at 38, I've never strolled on a beach without a shirt on and have always avoided pool parties. "I'm still stuck."

She mentioned that her main goal is to continue motivating and inspiring as many individuals as she can to conquer any challenges they may be facing, particularly those who are striving to shed some pounds.

"You can never be too far gone. It's never too late to start. You can always come back.
