Snoop Dogg, the legendary American rapper and actor, turned to social networking platform 'XX' to announce a huge lifestyle shift.

The post which has 135M views, 125k retweets and 34.2k comments since its publication states, "After much consideration and conversation with my family, I have decided to give up smoke[ing]." Please respect my privacy at this time.”


Snoop Dogg’s fans reacted with surprise and disbelief. 


One person commented, “It’s not April Fools day, Snoop!” while another said, “This could be a joke or a temporary solution.”


Another one humorously said "Don't worry, Snoop, we, your followers, will carry on your legacies... We'll light up on your behalf... Keep going for us."


Snoop Dogg's statement has also sparked speculation, with one user claiming, "This is probably just gonna be some viral campaign where he launches his own line of vapes or edibles or something." 


The notion that this could be a deliberate move for a business endeavour is consistent with the trend of celebrities entering the cannabis market.


Among the sceptics, some applaud Snoop Dogg for prioritising his health. "Health comes first, above all else," one X user said. Snoops is leading by example for everyone. Respect." 


This perspective recognizes the potential positive influence that the rapper's choices may have on both his supporters and the wider society.

However, not all responses are positive. 


One user, claiming to be a youth football coaching legend, took advantage of the opportunity to share an unpopular opinion. "Thank you for this, Snopes," the comment says.
