After posting about how demanding and time-consuming her first 9–5 job was, a woman became popular on social media.

Like many recent grads, Brielle, who uses the TikTok username @brielleybelly123, talked candidly about how challenging it was to make the adjustment from college graduation to life as a working professional.

"QOTD (question of the day) in a 9-5 how do u have time for ur life," is the overlay text for a video that was uploaded on the platform. Brielle let her frustrations about the new stage of her life out.

"I realise that I'm probably just being overly dramatic and bothersome, but this is my first work after college—that is, my first 9 to 5 job.

She sobbed as she told her fans, "I'm in person, and I'm commuting in the city, and it takes me f***ing forever to get there." "It's basically impossible that I will have the option to manage the cost of living in the city at this moment, so that is off the table."

Brielle explained that in order to go to her job on time, she rides the train at 7:30 AM and returns home no later than 6:15 PM. She also doesn't "have time to do anything" enjoyable or useful by then.

I plan to shower, eat dinner, and then go to bed.I also lack the energy and time to prepare my dinner. I'm not energetic enough to work out, so that's just thrown out the window," she said.

The TikToker made it clear that her issues weren't with her employment but rather with the eight-hour workday lifestyle.

Nevertheless, due to her daily commute, her workday remains incomplete until she reaches home, a journey that often extends beyond an hour from the moment she departs from the office.

"I am aware that things could go worse. I understand I could be working longer, but when I really checkout the job, it's completely dark outside. How are your friends made?

How do you find time to socialize and meet potential partners? How do you make time for going on dates? I'm feeling overwhelmed with stress and it seems like I can't find any spare time for anything," she expressed.

At the time of writing, Brielle's video has accumulated more than 1.5 million views since its initial upload on October 19th.

Furthermore, a large number of people showered the comments area with encouragement for her annoyances.

One person stated that the 40-hour work week is no longer practical and your emotions are completely understandable, while another person claimed that the homemaker was responsible for establishing the 40-hour work week to manage household responsibilities, which is no longer viable today due to the necessity for dual incomes. There is no time for anything.

A third person said: "You're not by yourself. It's unbelievable how truly your whole day has vanished. This is the reason four-day work weeks are necessary," said a fourth individual.

"I recall releasing this as well. Like this is the reason I was so eager to grow up? to lead such a life?"

The content creator published a statement with The Independent after discussing her views over her 9–5 job.

She emphasised in her statement that her widely viewed video underscores the importance of the necessary transformation of cultural norms.

I would like to be able to speak to this new generation and tell them that 40 hours a week plus a commute isn’t enough to be productive,” she said.

Thank you for all the kind words from other concerned workers and I hope more businesses think about following suit in terms of working hours, especially now that so many people have grown accustomed to working from home after Covid.
