Freda Jackson said she 'cried' at the end of her two-week trip to the popular holiday destination, and said Spanish people should go somewhere else for their holidays

A British woman stated that after her two-week vacation in Benidorm, she broke down in tears because "rude" Spanish people had ruined the trip. In the spring of 2017, Freda Jackson took a plane to the well-known vacation spot of Alicante, Spain, to enjoy the sun. However, she claimed that other sun worshippers who "got on her nerves" ruin her entire trip.

The elderly woman, who has trouble moving about, claimed that her lodging was crowded with vacationers from the area and that on one occasion they almost knocked her down. Additionally, she criticised the hotel for being "focused and catered for the Spanish," saying that they ought to "go somewhere else" to spend their vacation.

A retired care assistant named Freda made the following statement in 2018: "The hotel was full of Spanish vacationers, and they really got on our nerves because they were just so rude."

A Spanish guy almost threw me off one evening, but he just turned and left without saying sorry. "The hotel's entertainment was exclusively tailored to the Spanish audience. Is it not possible for the Spanish to vacation in another country?"

The pensioner and her friend had booked a four-day holiday with a friend to Benidorm in April 2017, and had asked for the hotel to be situated on a slope, rather than in the hills, due to their mobility issues. They paid for the trip with their pensions, and when they arrived at the hotel, they were told they had been placed on the "14th floor" - 42 steps down from the swimming pool.

The pensioner claims that the holiday was a "complete disaster" and that she and her friend should have been refunded or given a free trip. She added that she had never been unhappy with a holiday before, but that this one was "a complete disaster".

The couple paid for the holiday with their pensions, but it was a "difficult" process to fund the trip over 12 months, and they were left in tears afterwards.

The woman filed a complaint with Thomas Cook, who initially provided her and a friend with a £75 hotel voucher as compensation. However, after Freda refused the offer, Thomas Cook then made an improved £566 offer, which was split between the two of them.

The following week, Freda told The Mirror that she had been falsely accused of being a “racist” and that her comments were “taken completely out of context”. She added that she did not say Spanish tourists should “go somewhere else”, but only that the hotel “catered to English people”.

She went on to say that “people who don’t know me are accusing me of being a racist, which is completely untrue. I didn’t say anything bad about the Spanish people.”
